Edna Kurtz Emmet is an artist and an art teacher at the Waldorf School of Baltimore.
She was born in Poland, grew up in Israel and currently lives in USA. Ms. Emmet received a BA in Art and Design from the Hornsey College of Art in London. A Few years later, she studied the dynamic qualities of colors with the painter Beppe Assenza in Dornach Switzerland.
Edna is an abstract painter. She explores how colors and spaces can evoke a sense of beginnings, of potentiality, and of stories coming into being and dissolving simultaneously.
In the last few years, my teaching took precedence over painting in the studio.
My intention for the 10 weeks of residency in Ólafsfjördur is to delve into the artistic process and to paint some paintings on canvas. I wish to let the landscape and colors of the winter in Iceland influence my color palette, and to incorporate the local black volcanic sand in the paintings.
