14. 02. 2016 | 17:00~18:00
Speaker: Ksenia Yurkova
My new «Superposition» on-going project approaches the topic of relations and reliance through the contemporary dating apps, which can give one an illusion of safety and closeness. I am exploring the young people aged 25-45 in Russia and Iceland: their behaviour, readiness to interact and demonstrate themselves, as well as the limits of my intrusion into vulnerable zone of private life.
Ksenia Yurkova, is based in St. Petersburg (Russia). She is a photographer and an artist, working with art-photography, book and multimedia projects. In 2008, She graduated with honours St. Petersburg State University, Faculty of Journalism, Department of Visual Journalism.
Yurkova attended Fotodepartament in 2013-2015, and she used to run Tkachi Art Centre – an exhibition space in St. Petersburg in 2012-2013 as well. Now she works with the topic of family relations and family mythology, childhood vanishing memories, stereotypes, the questions of self-identification and identification by others, the problems of reliance.
